Citizens Advice Barking and Dagenham is a charity. We provide free, independent, confidential and impartial advice that people need for the problems they face and we work to improve the policies and practices that affect people’s lives. All advice and casework is carried out to Advice Quality Standard Level and above – see the advice Categories (above) for what we can take on. Please note: - Housing is at a specialist level where our lawyers will represent residents (not landlords) in eviction/possession court proceedings subject to legal aid - Welfare benefits and Employment includes legal dispute casework up to Tribunal and beyond - Debt advice and casework is at all levels. We are active in the local voluntary and community sector and act as a critical friend to the local authority, public and private sector agencies.

Description

DABD is a charity. We provide free, independent, confidential and impartial advice. DABD Energy Efficiency / Cosy Homes Scheme Provision of information, advice and guidance on domestic energy usage, either in the home or by telephone appointment (clients choice), including: • Domestic energy efficiency with practical guidance and support to make informed decisions regarding suppliers, tariffs and energy usage within the home. • Help understanding bills and how to read meters to help residents review existing utilities. • Advise on current discounts, benefits and grants that apply. • Review and discuss current energy usage & replacement of current household appliances. • Support residents to make applications to the Cosy Homes Scheme. • Referrals for Debt Advice and Welfare Benefit Checks can be made on clients behalf. • Signposting to other services that fall outside the remit of this scheme. • Review next steps and schedule a follow up call at 6-8 weeks. A written copy of the advice given will be provided to the client either by email or letter following the appointment.
